Egypt: Excursion to Luxor From Marsa Alam | by bus

The trip to Luxor takes you to the former Thebes, the ancient Egyptian royal metropolis, for a day. Experience the history of the largest open-air museum in Egypt.

At around 5:00 pm we pick you up at your hotel in Marsa Alam. In the air-conditioned bus you can enjoy the journey between mountains and desert to Luxor.

The tour begins with a visit to Thebes West. In the valley of the kings the most important rulers of Egypt found their last retirement. Archaeologists in the Valley of the Kings have discovered over 60 tombs. We visit three of the pharaohs’ rock tombs with their ancient wall paintings. They miraculously reflect the ancient Egyptian conceptions of the journey to the beyond. The tomb viewing of the famous Pharaoh Tutankhamun represents the highlight without question. Most of the Tutankhamun treasures are now exhibited in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Optional grave surveys are possible. Particularly noteworthy is the tomb of the Nefertari, wife of Ramses II (Ramses the Great) in the valley of the queens.

The next stop of the excursion to Luxor takes us to Deir el Bahari to the imposing and impressive terrace temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Egypt from 1479 to 1458 BC. reigned. Already from afar we see the two sitting monumental statues, the Memnon colossi. As guardians of the temple, they represent the soul of Pharaoh Amenophis.

In an alabaster factory, you can look over the shoulder of the artisans while they are working on the alabaster, which are still unique in traditional craftsmanship.

After a strenuous lunch (excluding beverages), our trip to Luxor takes us to Thebes East to visit the unique temple complex of Karnak, which was reserved only for priests and pharaohs in ancient times. Löw bodies with ram’s heads line the Sphinxallee to the first portal, the main entrance of the temple complex. Through the second portal, you pass the grandiose colonnade, which in antiquity was one of the seven worlds. Here you will find the Great Temple of Amun and the Most Holy, the Hall with the shrine of the gods.

Browse for a while in the shops for possibly souvenirs. With a basket full of unforgettable memories, we return to Marsa Alam in the air-conditioned bus in the late afternoon. The cultural trip to Luxor has certainly met your expectations.
